Job Description

Key Performance Areas
■ Manage and provide guidance to ICT Officers in Provinces and Head Office ■ Facilitate the provision of ICT solutions to all SALGA programmes and line functions ■ Coordinate the installations of ICT systems throughout SALGA offices ■ Implement the SALGA ICT Strategy and provide technical assistance to ICT users ■ Ensure the implementation of change management processes on the ICT changes for user support ■ Ensure that all servers within SALGA are properly administered, available, reliable and secure ■ Ensure that server room conditions are well managed and conducive for the durability for the hardware such as UPS, servers, Network equipment and other hardware ■ Ensure that Server Based Systems and Software Operating system are functioning, monitored and updated with the latest software and patches such as Microsoft Windows Server ■ Server performance analysed and properly planned on storage facilities, processors, server and rack space ■ Serve as a custodian of the server rooms for both at SALGA national and provincial offices and the entire ICT infrastructure ■ Manage the physical and logical security and access into the server rooms
Qualifications and experience
■ Applicants must be in possession of relevant ICT Degree or MSCE; MCITP; A+; N+; SQL
■ A minimum of 4 years ICT working experience in administrating VMW ■A valid code 08 drivers’ license and own vehicle.
Core knowledge, skills and behaviour
■Knowledge of the functioning of Local Government Sector ■ Understanding of the functioning of Network (LGNet) and Municipal Systems ■ Exposure to the Hewlett Packard Server Environment ■Knowledge of the ITIL / Cobit Service Management ■Network topology devices:- Switches, Routers, Firewalls, Security devices etc ■Technical Project Management ■Customer focused ■Good Interpersonal Skills ■Results driven
